TOMMY LEE: I'm Not Going Back To MOTLEY CRUE
May 9, 2002Tommy Lee about his rumored interest in returning to MOTLEY CRUE for a reunion tour:
"No. I keep telling everybody no. I actually asked [MOTLEY CRUE bassist] Nikki [Sixx] to take it off the [CRUE] web site. He's misleading people and that's not cool. It's strange, you know. He's asked me about it and I'm kind of like, I don't see that happening. And he's making statements like, 'In 2003, when Tommy is done with his solo record, we're going to do this farewell tour.' And I never said yes. So he's sort of taking liberties and I don't think that's very cool to the fans. They don't know. They just start e-mailing everybody like crazy and all of a sudden I'm doing a reunion tour. I'm like, 'I never said yes guys stop, wait, hold on."
About MOTLEY CRUE guitarist Mick Mars' rumored failing health:
"I spoke to Mick a month or two ago through email, and he hasn't really said anything about his health, and Nikki hasn't mentioned anything, so I'm assuming he's OK."
On whether or not he would consider returning to MOTLEY CRUE:
"No. For two reasons. On a creative level I can't see myself playing that music anymore. It's just not where I'm at. I can't see myself doing that, and creatively, if I'm unhappy I get miserable (laughs). And on a personal level, [MOTLEY CRUE frontman] Vince [Neil] and I are cordial to each other when we see each other, but we don't like each other (laughs). At all."
On whether Vince has changed his ways:
"No. Yes! He has changed. He's definitely gained a lot more weight (laughs). I was like, holy sh.t! But no, I can't see myself doing it. Man, I really can't."
